The Fool

Description

What is is a fool? The first card of the tarot card deck, the fool tarot card opens the tarot deck. The fool is interpreted in many ways throughout the readings. Tarot card interpretations are generally based on the combinations of cards in a spread. However each card has its own singular interpretaion as well. Let’s know more about the fool tarot interpretation.

This card highlights a young man who is ready to transverse the heights of the world. A fool meaning, someone who is naive and the fool means the same here. He has a light burden on his right shoulder, and he is standing at the edge of a cliff.  He also has a rose on his left hand, and with the sun shining over his head, he is indeed at the top of his world. The seeker is lost in his meditation, and even the warning barks of his fluffy dog don’t get his attention. There is also the opposite card i.e. The Fool Tarot Reversed which is also explained below for the benefit of our readers.

Being at the edge of the cliff means his next step may be his last, or he may have mastered the ability to walk on air. The Fool is the most vulnerable card in the Tarot deck. This zero card is a representation of fate or karma. The Fool is yet to experience the ups and downs of life, and he is also unaware of the potential and strength he has.

The Fool Tarot card symbolizes the beginner’s mind. The challenge here is for us to think of all the great possibilities when we start something new rather than to be hampered by all the possible technicalities we may experience.

The Fool is searching for meaning and is ready to experience life, as he acknowledges there is more to life than what he is experiencing.  He has everything he requires to start this journey represented by the minimalist baggage on his shoulder.  The white rose in his hand shows freedom.

The Fool in an Upright Position

In the upright position, the Fool signifies new beginnings such as a new venture, a new direction in your life, or freedom from restrictions. This is a ‘get out of your jail’ card. This card should signify the opportunities you have and the courage to pursue them. The tarot interpretation for the upright position is of someone who is unaware of the worldly ways, basking in the glory of the present.

The good thing about this card is that it is a wish card as the future isn’t set since the Fool hasn’t stepped off the cliff. Therefore, what follows next depends on what you decide to do. The best decision is to take a leap of faith and to spread your wings.

In A Reversed Position

The Fool tarot card in a reversed position shows that there is a part of you that is still in the shadows of ignorance or immaturity. There may be something holding you back from responding in an authentic manner, such as fear or self-limitation thoughts. These limitations may be forcing you to remain in the same position. For instance, you may be facing writer’s block or a lack of creativity in your life. It may also signify some extent of recklessness when you are pursuing a new venture.

Ensure you are actively doing rather than being lost in your thoughts. Also, be cautious not to step halfway into your new opportunity, since the Fool is likely to fall if he tries to be at the cliff and off it at the same time. Don’t be hesitant as this may result in missed opportunities. Even when you have a new idea, remember it is only through action that the idea can materialize.

The Fool In A Time Based Position

The Past –When you get the Fool in the past position, it shows that you may have taken a path that will result in new outcomes. It could also mean that there is a time in the past when you could have taken a different direction that would have given you different outcomes than what you are currently experiencing.

Present – The Fool in the present position indicates a new journey or that you about to abandon old positions. It signifies that you are about to enter a new phase in your life.

Future – The Fool in this position indicates the attainment of new desires, knowledge, or goals in the future. It may be that you are starting a new activity, school, or career.

It is always good for anyone to thus have a good understanding of this card so that they can make positive changes to their life.
