If the above are some of your aspirations, its time you start making them realities. You can begin this process of awakening by opening your third eye.

However, we understand there are many myths and unknown things about the third eye. Right now, you are probably wondering, what is the third eye? Why is it so important? How do you open it?

We want to answer all your questions as we set the record straight. Fortunately, we came up with this guide that tells you all the significant things you need to know about your third eye and how to open it. This will help you understand why it is important that you open your third eye and how you can do this.

Without further ado, let’s delve into third eye awakening.

Shall we?

What Is The Third Eye?

The third eye is also known as the pineal gland or the inner eye. This gland is shaped like a pea and located between your eyebrows at the center of your forehead but back in towards the center of your brain. It is considered to be the organ that represents the supreme universal connection. It receives information and transmits those messages in the form of hormones to the rest of your body.

In many ancient cultures, including ancient Egypt, Buddhists, Hinduism, the Taoists, among others, there are numerous references to the third eye.

In biology, the third eye is represented by the pineal gland, which produces the hormone melatonin.  More melatonin is secreted in children than in adults, which is said to prevent premature sexual development. However, after the adolescence stage, the pineal reduces in size, and less melatonin is released. In essence, melatonin has control of our reproductive hormones and circadian rhythms. This means:

  • It regulates our sleep patterns
  • Regulates our sexual maturity
  • It is responsible for our time and the aging process

Calcification of the Pineal Gland and Its Effects

However, if the third eye is not being used, the calcification of the pineal gland occurs.

Further, calcification also occurs due to eating a diet rich in calcium and fluoride, which results in the buildup of calcium phosphate crystals around the gland. Other causes of calcification include the accumulation of toxins in the body due to the intake of products with lots of sugar, additives, and artificial sweeteners. Another cause is radiation from the use of cell phones and electric and magnetic fields

Calcification of this gland results in the decreased production of the melatonin gland, the impairment of your sleep-wake pattern, and the disruption of the regulation of the circadian rhythm.

According to scientific evidence, children reach the adolescence stage earlier today due to the calcification of the pineal gland. More than 60% of people suffer from calcification today. In simple terms, calcification of the pineal gland negatively affects our proper biological functioning leading to some severe health conditions, including:

  • Aging
  • Stroke
  • Headaches and migraine
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Fluoride exposure
  • Breast cancer
  • Prostate cancer
  • Schizophrenia
  • Insulin resistance

Reasons to Activate Your Third Eye

You are probably wondering, is it crucial to activate my third eye?

Yes, it is.

Why?

Because for starters, decalcifying the pineal gland, which is the same as activating the third eye, opens a doorway to do away with the limitations of humanity while heightening your perception of the real world.

According to ancient Hindu knowledge, the third eye also referred to as the sixth chakra or Ajna Chakra, is where intuition takes priority over the prevailing logic. It is the dwelling place of meditation.  When your sixth chakra is open or activated, you can see better when it comes to your soul and that of others.   You become Paramahamsa or the one who dwells in superior consciousness. When your third eye is developed, you experience improved:

  • Focus
  • Clarity
  • Intuition
  • Decisiveness
  • Empathy

On the other hand, a blocked third eye results to:

  • Jealously
  • Uncertainty
  • Pessimism
  • Confusion
  • Cynicism

When our thirds eye is blocked, we aren’t aware of it, and we are less connected to our natural world. We keep holding on to our ego that shuts our soul. We only see the physical world when our third eye is blocked.

However, an open third eye allows us to experience the real world. We can connect our physical world with the spirit world. An activated third eye has been linked to improved sleep quality, enhanced creativity and imagination, astral projection, psychological development, peak performance, aura viewing, spiritual awakening, and lucid dreaming.

With the sixth chakra, you transcend common abilities, and you’ll be able to see into life situations of others and yours. It’s common for those who have opened this chakra (the third eye) to describe feeling “plugged in” to the collective consciousness and to have significantly enhanced intuition.

How Do You Activate Your Third Eye?

Since we are now on the same page on the importance of an open third eye, let’s look at ways we can activate the pineal gland.

Before we get into it, it is essential to note that the third eye is thought to open naturally in the right conditions. Unfortunately, in the modern age, these conditions are rarely present for natural third eye awakening.

In ancient cultures, elders guided younger generations on how to achieve these conditions or how to open their third eye. Today, there are rarely such elders, and each one of us has a responsibility when it comes to our spiritual development.

Secret Tips to Open the Third Eye

Opening the third eye in ancient traditions was an established practice. Today, most scientists encourage it as it helps decalcify the pineal gland. There are unusual ways that were used since ancient times to awaken the third eye. They include:

  • Cultivate Silence through Meditation

The silence of mind achieved through meditation is one of the known ways to open your third eye. If your mind is too chaotic and noisy, you will not experience the elevation of your senses or listen to the messages that are relayed by your third eye.

Further, meditation stimulates the pineal gland since it is sensitive to the signals of darkness and light. Meditation helps activate these bioelectrical signals, and it is possible to direct this energy to your pineal gland.

There are different meditative techniques that you can use to awaken your sixth Chakra. However, our favorite is explained below.

  • Sit comfortably in a relaxed posture
  • Close your eyes
  • Breathe in and out deeply and slowly without watching your breath
  • Keep your attention on the third eye area which is between your eyes without forcing it
  • Imagine yourself looking at a panoramic video screen
  • Visualize yourself doing something in the past that you were proud of
  • Imagine yourself in the present and future performing this action
  • Remain relaxed without forcing this exercise as you let the flow of energy into the pineal gland

As you continue with this meditation, you’ll start to feel a slight pressure on the third eye region or an increased pulsating sensation, which is an indication of the opening of your third eye. This form of meditation works because you are focusing your energy on the pineal gland. The relaxation chemicals released in your body also stimulate this area. Studies from Taiwan University indicate that this form of meditation leads to the activation of the pineal gland, increasing the secretion of melatonin.

  • Mantra Chanting

Chanting a mantra is repeatedly saying a phrase or a word out loud or internally. Doing this as you perform your meditation helps activate your third eye. You can also chant the mantra throughout your day. Mantra chanting enables you to connect with your inner listening and increases your ability to hear inwardly.

You can start by chanting the seed sound of Ajna chakra, which is AUM or OM. You can also focus on another word or phrase that you’d want to integrate into your mental awareness. Such as the word peace or I choose love. Chant this word or phrase as you maintain your focus on your third eye.

Alternatively, you can listen to this sound as an inward hum, or rhythm in your breathing. Keep the mantra going and let it become part of your consciousness.

Make meditation and mantra chanting part of your life. It should be like what sleep is to your body. Your mind may wander in the first few instances, but don’t stop. Start with a few minutes maybe 2 to 5 as you continually devote more time to meditation and mantra chanting.

  • Gazing At the Sun

According to ancient beliefs, sun gazing helps you to absorb the sun’s energy directly through your body and eyes. Modern science dictates that it is dangerous to stare at the sun as the ultraviolet rays (UV) can damage your eyes.

However, during sunset and sunrise, the UV index is at zero. This is why we encourage you to gaze at the sun in the first hour of the morning during sunrise, and the last hour of the evening during sunset. At this time, there should be no orange glow in the sun.

To get the best benefits of sun gazing its best to practice the HRM method where:

  • The sungazing is done for a few minutes at the start, as you build up to 45 minutes daily for the next nine months
  • You should sun gaze barefoot for added benefits of grounding and increase the activity of the pineal gland
  • Your sun gaze should be done without sunglasses as direct light stimulates your pineal gland while increasing your resilience to blue light

Even if you are only able to sun gaze on a few mornings and evenings, you still reap the benefits of sun gazing.

The HRM method of sun gazing was popularized by Hira Ratan Manek (HRM) who had read extensively for thirty years on the practices of sun gazing, that many cultures had used in ancient times. He successfully came up with a sun gazing practice, which has become a widespread health practice all over the world. This technique has been shown to bring about significant benefits, including:

Going for long periods of fasting while remaining physically healthy – This is evidenced by confirmations from the University of Pennsylvania university scientists who examined HRM for 130 days and reported that he mostly survived on sun gazing and very little water.

Expansion of the pineal gland – This was observed by Andrew Newberg a neuroscientist, and George Bernard a pineal gland authority, who looked at HRM’s brain finding that his gray cells were regenerating while his pineal gland was expanding. It was observed that the pineal gland in the HRM case measured 8*11 mm compared to the standard size of 6*6 mm.

These observations indicate that sun gazing helps restore the function and size of the pineal gland.

Other Tangible Ways to Open the Third Eye

Below are different known ways that you can use in your daily life to open your third eye.

  • Reduce Fluoride Intake

The two leading causes of calcification of the pineal gland are the intake of fluoride and synthetic calcium. Thus, the elimination of fluoride and synthetic calcium in your body will decalcify your body and your pineal gland.

Unfortunately, most of the countries municipal council drinking water is fluoridated. If you live in the United States there is a 74% chance that your public water has fluoride. In addition to calcifying the pineal gland, studies show that fluoride also leads to arthritis, lowers IQ, increases the consumption of lead, and harms the male and female fertility among many other adverse effects.

However, scientists will argue that fluoridated water is necessary as it prevents tooth decay. However, what is misleading is that they do not point out that there is a difference between natural and synthetic fluoride. The former is what prevents tooth decay. Natural fluorite is a mineral that is found in small traces on the earth. However, what is used in our water is a synthetic fluoride that has synthetic materials such as sodium fluoride and hydrofluoric acid. These toxic chemicals are what harm our bodies.

But how do you reduce your consumption of this fluoride in water?

If your water is fluoridated, the best way you can reduce the consumption of fluoride is to filter it using reverse osmosis or carbon blocks filters. Ensure that your water filter is NSF certified by checking if it has the NSF-certified and not the NSF-tested mark.

Additionally, to avoid absorbing fluoride and chlorine when you shower, use shower filters that remove chlorine. Also, avoid using toothpaste with fluoride. Research shows that there is little difference in tooth decay between countries that use synthetic fluoride to prevent tooth decay and those who don’t.

Alternative toothpaste such as those manufactured by OralWellness and Tooth Soap doesn’t have fluoride. Alternatively, you can make your toothpaste using coconut oil and mixing it with baking soda.

  • Cut Out Processed Foods

Sugars, high amounts of fats, and processed carbohydrates present in fast foods aren’t good for our bodies. They act as toxins to our bodies and also calcify our pineal gland. The alternative is to supplement your diet with whole foods such as nuts, legumes, and whole grains. In addition, add fruits and vegetables to your diet. Moreover, add antioxidants to your diet as this helps to purify the pineal gland. Such antioxidants can be found in these foods, among others:

  • Coconuts
  • Blueberries
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Cacao
  • Veggies
  • Spirulina

Don’t forget to drink lots of water. The water helps to remove toxins in your body while hydrating it. Just be careful not to drink fluoridated water.

  • Engage In Yoga

The third eye chakra, according to Hinduism, is the home of our sixth sense, which is associated with wisdom, intellect, psychic ability, and intuition. Some asanas help to fine-tune your third eye chakra. You can introduce the below asana to your daily exercise routine to open and balance your third eye.

  • Standing Forward Bend or Uttanasana

This pose requires you to stand in the mountain pose or what is referred to as the Tadasana. In this position, inhale and raise your arms. During the exhale, bend forward from your hips and bring your hands to the side with your palms facing the floor. Lower your torso and back to strengthen your spine as you try to touch your forehead on the knee.

For stability, touch the back of your ankles as you interlace your fingers. The knees should be straight as your head rests on the knees or your shin.

This pose awakens your third eye as the blood flow is directed to your third eye.  It also relaxes you and strengthens your spine and hamstring.

  • Head to Knee Pose or Janu Sirsasana

Seat in the staff pose or Dandasana, separate your legs and bend your right knee. Draw your foot towards your groin, placing your heel to the perineum. Rest your right foot on your inner left thigh. As you inhale, raise your hands.

As you exhale, move your head forward and place your forehead on the shin. Grab your left foot and interlock your fingers as your forehead touches your shin. While keeping your back straight, breath in and out for five to seven times.

This pose helps tap on the center of your eyebrow while stimulating the third eye. It also increases blood flow to your face, stretches the spine and hamstring, while reducing fat on your waist.

  • Child Pose or Balasana

Seated in Thunderbolt pose or Vajrasana and let your hips touch your heels.  As you inhale, you should also lift your arms. As you exhale, go down, ensuring your back is straight while the hips are still pressed on the heels.

Your palm and forehead should rest on the floor. Relax and take five to seven breaths as the pressure gets into your third eye.

The vital part of this pose is to ensure that your forehead touches the floor. This helps to ground any negativity and tap into positivity. This pose restores balance in your sixth chakra while increasing blood flow to your brain.

Other helpful asanas you can try include:

  • Makarasana or the dolphins pose
  • Adho Mukha Svanasana or the dog pose
  • Salamba Sarvangasana or the supported pose
  • Ardha Uttanasana or the Standing half forward bend
  • Virasana or the hero pose
  • Mummy Food

Mummy food helps third eye awakening and helps develop your psychic abilities. According to the late Edgar Cayce, who came up with the recipe, this is the food for the spirit that was consumed as spiritual food in ancient Egypt.  Edgar Cayce discovered the method in one of his dreams. Considered very delicious, mummy food clears your nasal passageways, and you’ll feel some pressure in your third eye once you eat it. It is believed to have been a delicacy for Egyptian priests and priestesses served in the Egyptian temples.

Here is the recipe:

  • ½ cup chopped pitted dates
  • ½ cup chopped dried black figs
  • 1-2 cups of water
  • 1 tsp. yellow cornmeal

Cook the mixture over low heat as you stir for ten minutes or more

Serve with milk or cream

This hearty meal can be enjoyed daily for breakfast. It raises your serotonin levels, increases your psychic sensitivity, and develops your pineal gland.

  • Sleep In Complete Darkness and Reduce Your Exposure To Blue-Light

Melatonin release starts in the evening when it is dark. Artificial light from TV, lighting, and mobile phones can interfere with the release of melatonin in your pineal gland.

If you must expose your eyes to blue-light, wear blue light blocking glasses, especially in the evening. Sit in complete darkness when you can. The pineal gland light-sensitive so when light is removed from your senses, it activates the release of the melatonin hormone.

You can also try picturing a deep blue indigo color as you sit in darkness. According to Chakra and yoga philosophy, the third eye is related to the deep purple color. Focus on this color image for five or more minutes.

  • Reduce Stress and Exercise More

Stress hormones interfere with how your pineal gland works. Over the long term, they can lead to pineal gland calcification. Reduction of stress can help open your third eye.

You can engage in daily meditation, yoga, or other exercises. These can help improve your circadian rhythm and help in the release of more melatonin hormone at night.

The Bottom Line

In conclusion, activation of your third eye improves your perception of reality. You get to notice new truths in your life as you integrate all your brain and body regions.

If you haven’t started the awakening of your third eye maybe it’s time you do so. Applying any of these suggestions is a great place to start your awakening journey.
