The Emperor

Description

The emperor sits on his throne, symbolizing masculine strength and power. The throne has four arms heads showing his connection with planet Mars and Aries.  The bearded king holds an Orb and an Ankh, which are symbols of Egyptian religion. There is also the opposite card i.e. The Emperor Reversed which is also explained below for the benefit of our readers.

The emperor’s authority can’t be denied, and he is clearly the boss. His scarlet robes, armor, and sash signify that he is a man of action. His posture is poised and attentive, showing that he has little time for fun and is ready to spring to action at any time.

The mountains behind him show that this man has ambition for greater things. This is a solid and powerful man who is also authoritative. His long beard signifies wisdom. While the Empress is the mother figure in a Tarot deck, the Emperor is the father figure. The Emperor shows a father figure in authority, who is a provider and a protector of his subjects.

The Emperor in an Upright Position

In the upright position, the Emperor shows that many rely on you as a symbol of security and a parental figure. An upright Emperor card is also a symbol of control and leadership. You are the one who gives rules and structure, and you foster honor and loyalty from your followers. You guide with a firm hand. The qualities in you are those of leadership, and you may be a good manager. You are also a reliable leader, and you offer sage advice. You have experience in your leadership role, which is accompanied by good wisdom.

When it comes to love and relationship, the Emperor in an upright position signifies that if you are single, you may fall in love with an older man who will bring order and structure in your life. He may not have romance as his strongest point, but he will influence you positively. In case you are already in a romantic relationship, the Emperor is a sign of stability and a good lasting relationship.

The Emperor, when it comes to your career, signifies that your hard work is about to pay off. You will experience success and be elevated to a leadership position or a position of control. It can also show that you are about to get guidance from a person with wisdom and experience. Financially, this card warns you to reasonably control your spending and also to be practical about your money.

The Emperor in the health context may mean that you need to be kind to your body. Maybe you are too hard on yourself. In case you are facing some health issues, you need not suck it up but be practical about these issues. Seek medical attention and follow the advice of your doctor.

The Emperor in a Reversed Position

In the reversed position, the Emperor implores you to consider your actions concerning power and authority. The card may signify that you are abusing your authority, or you are acting as a weak ruler and avoiding responsibilities. You may also be lacking self-control, or the rules you have created may no longer work.

This card in a reversed position may also mean that it’s time to stand up to an overbearing partner or boss. Maybe you are fed up with dealing with an authoritative boss or partner, and it’s time you sought a more flexible career or relationship.
