This Hanged Man Tarot card isn’t as bad as it sounds. The card has a man suspended from a tree. He shows no struggle and is often referred to as the willing martyr. He has a calm expression on his face, and his hands are folded at the back which indicates non-action. Although the man is at the gallows, the calmness in him shows he chose this path willingly. There is also the opposite card i.e. The Hanged Man Reversed which is also explained below for the benefit of our readers.

The gallows from which he is suspended symbolizes the world tree. The tree references Odin, who hung himself on the world tree to gain wisdom and knowledge. The hanging man has a halo on his head showing he is a spiritual and enlightened person. He has on red trousers indicating that he is passionate and a blue coat, a representation of knowledge. His shoes are yellow showing his idealism.
